Australian Consulate General
Australian Doctors & Dentists Association of Hong Kong
Australian International School Hong Kong
Australian Society of CPAs
Australian Tourist Commission
Federation of Australian Alumni Associations
The Australian Chinese Association of Hong Kong Ltd
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
It was through
a dedicated initiative from the Australian Consulate General in 1996 that SAG came to existence. The mission of SAG is to facilitate cooperation between the membership organisations in Hong Kong to enhance
and promote a positive and cohesive image of Australia. SAG serves an Australian
expatriate population of about 45,000 people and many other professionals with vested interest in Australia. SAG holds meeting every 6 weeks and representatives from the Council of ADDAHK regularly attend.
Through SAG, a florid of social activities are jointly organised by member
societies. To name a few, these include:
l Meet at Six. This is a social
get together, monthly to bi-monthly, supported by the Australian Chamber of Commerce.
The venue varies and is usually a caf, lounge or bar in Central, Admiralty or Causeway. The most recent venue is the BL.USH, 4-58 Hollywood Road, Central (one block west of the Escalator). It runs from 6pm to 9pm with door prizes and raffles draws, and costs around $100
- 150 per head inclusive of drinks and canapes. Details online at http://www.austcham.com.hk/, enquires Tel: 25225054. Email reply to Events@Austcham.com.hk.
l Business seminars and special
events. Special functions are held periodically to coincide with visits to Hong
Kong of politicians, sportsman, and musicians from Australia. Over the past year,
SAG has played host to the Foreign Minister Alex Downer, the Australian of the Year (1999) Dr. Yu, Musician Tommy Emmanuel,
Captain of the Australian Cricket Team Mark Taylor, and the cast of the Broadway musical Chicago. As members of ADDAHK, you will receive online priority information and invitation to some of these events.
l Golf day. The first Golf Competition between the North American Medical Association, British Medical Association
- Hong Kong Branch, and ADDAHK was held in November 2000, and ADDAHK won the "Viagra Trophy" kindly sponsored by Pfizer. SAG also runs an annual golf day, in which ADDAHK participates. Golfers of different standards, with or without handicaps, are welcome to play for our Association or simply
have fun on the course.
l Annual functions. The Federation of Australian Alumni Association, the Australian Chinese Association, and the Australian
Association hold their annual ball in November to January each year. Members
of ADDAHK are cordially invited to attend, both to represent the Association and, more importantly, to have fun and to meet
with other professionals.
You can
be informed of these and other exciting activities of SAG online. Anyone who are interested, please inform Dr. Norris Tsang
